Ecology of Place

Sonoma Valley Museum of Art partners with Cornerstone Sonoma to present a talk on landscape design & architecture by award winning site-specific sculptor & landscape architect Suzanne Biaggi, whose garden, "Ecology of Place for Phil Biaggi" opens at Cornerstone, July 18th.  Biaggi will be joined by celebrated New Zealand sculptor Regan Gentry who was invited to create the seminal piece in her garden – a luminous 20’ metal tree.

Suzanne Biaggi is an ecological designer and site-specific sculptor.  Her design practice reflects a commitment to deep ecology while maintaining an aesthetic which is disarmingly beautiful. In this special public talk, she will be discussing her work and the ideas that informed the design of her new garden at Cornerstone.

Regan Gentry is one of the most accomplished public space artists in New Zealand. Regan’s artistic practice typically depicts the relationship of people to their environment and how this is acted out.  Using a wide range of materials and situations, his work is characterized by a playful musing and using of material, language, location and structure.  He looks forward to sharing his ideas on this interplay of people and place, in this special presentation.
