For such a ubiquitous material, most of us are unaware of paper’s intriguing facets, including the history of its craft and engineering, it's ecological dependency, its role as the conveyor of language, culture, memory, and how this will evolve in our digital age. Simon Blattner is the curator of The Art of Handmade Paper and Bryce Seidl, lender to the exhibition, is president and CEO of Pacific Science Center in Seattle, but for 25 years prior worked in Washington’s commercial paper industry. They will discuss many of these issues and reveal some surprising connections between artisanal and mass-produced paper.
