The trip will focus on many of the exciting twentieth century art works that have been covered in recent art history courses at the Museum as well as iconic architecture of the region and an evening with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood. TEXAS ART ODYSSEY

This very special, can’t buy week is limited to fourteen people, and this exceptional art experience will be punctuated by private tours. All expenses are included from the time you check into the Mansion on Turtle Creek until you return to the D/FW airport from El Paso.

DALLAS
Begin the week with two nights in Dallas at the 5-star Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. During your stay you will tour the Nasher Sculpture Center, designed by Renzo Piano, a vast collection of major works by masters like Giacometti, Matisse, de Kooning, and Calder. You will also tour the Dallas Museum of Art, including its internationally famed Pre-Columbian collection. Special lunches and dinners will highlight Dallas’ reputation as a “food city.”
FORT WORTH
In the morning, you will travel to Fort Worth, where you will stay at the Worthington Hotel, set in the heart of Sundance Square, a lively city space full of restaurants, the new Bass Performing Arts Hall and many fun restaurants with lots of night life. Your day will be spent touring two of Fort Worth’s world-class museums: The Modern Museum of Art, designed by Tadeo Ando, collects and interprets a vast collection of post WWII artists in all mediums. The Kimbell Art Museum was designed by Louis Kahn in 1972, and is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the modern era, its collections of masterpieces range from Fra Angelico and Caravaggio to Cézanne and Matisse.
Then, lunch at Angelo’s, a BBQ institution in the Southwest. The end of your day can be spent shopping or visiting the stunning Amon Carter Museum of American Art (Philip Johnson), the beautiful downtown water gardens (Philip Johnson), or the impressive Sid Richardson Foundation collection of Remingtons and Russells. Dinner will be in lively and beautifully restored Sundance Square.
The next morning you will take a one-hour flight to El Paso, where you will be taken to quirky and astonishing Marfa, Texas. We will stay at the famous Thunderbird Motel, which has been thoroughly modernized and is “the” place to stay in Marfa. Two full days there will include extensive tours of the Donald Judd Foundation, Chinati Foundation and The Ballroom. Informal meals will explore the growing number of excellent chefs who have forsaken big city restaurants for the eclectic pleasures of living in Marfa, where the high desert provides a majestic landscape and its 6,000' elevation provide a comfortable climate.
On one evening we will make the 9-mile pilgrimage to watch the eerie phenomena of the ”Marfa Lights” from special viewing decks.

Deposit and Final payment
A $500-per-person deposit is required to hold space for the Texas trip, and is due by February 14. Final payment is due March 1st, 2012.Cancellations and Refunds
Deposits and any other pre-payments are fully refundable, less a $250-per-person cancellation fee, until March 1st 2012. After that date, refunds can only be made if the trip is sold out and there is a waiting line. We participate in Dia de los muertos activities that happen in late October. The Museum also hosts openings, presentations and educational events in conjunction with each exhibition. We partner with other Sonoma organizations for special events like the Sonoma International Film Festival and the City of Sonoma's Treasure Artist reception.
