Young Artists & Writers Workshop

June 22, 2015 to June 26, 2015

Against the backdrop of SVMA's summer exhihbition, The Intimate Diebenkorn, workshop participants, ages 11-15 combine and engage in a dynamic week of visual art and creative writing activities. Creating through a cross-curicular approach, students engage in a range of art projects and art interpretation to inspire and inform their writing, and thematic forms of writing to motivate and enrich their art making.

Each day begins at 10 am and ends at 3pm. Students work in their peer groups, with one group focused on writing in the library and galleries and the other on visual art in the studio. At noon all students come together and get outdoors for a restorative lunch break in nearby Sonoma Plaza. In the afternoon session, the groups switch up their work spaces and activities. All students have equal time to engage in writing and art making.

All art and writing supplies are provided. All students should bring their own lunches, drinks, and snacks. The group heads to Sonoma Plaza, less than a block from the Museum, for lunch, frisbee, and fresh air.

Online registration available for SVMA members only. All others may register over the phone by calling 707-939-7862, x13.
