Talking Realism: Guy Diehl and Marina Moevs

September 20, 2014

Realism programming continues when Bay Area still life painter Guy Diehl shares the spotlight with Los Angeles landscape painter Marina Moevs. Diehl's approach to realism has come through a personal dialogue with the tradition of still life painting, based on the 20th century invention of “art about art.” He will discuss the many influences in his career and the evolution of his still life series. Moevs applies paint largely with her hands to create paintings that hover between the serene and the catastrophic. In this program she will describe her process and talk about the ideas that inform her choice of imagery.

Each artist will present their own works—discussing their unique interpretations of realism—and then come together to talk with the audience.
