Sublime Minimalism

July 22, 2012

Ascend one of Glen Ellen's last freestanding knolls— a stunning 26 acres. The vista, once you're up there, inspires a first deep breath—the slopes of Sugarloaf and all that lie below. The second deep breath, and several after, come from touring the House that Jean Built—she and architect Keith Anding and builder Simon Fairweather. Crowning the ridge top is a pearl-string of linked buildings, slide-away glass walls, eye-popping craftsmanship in wine-aged redwood siding, board-formed concrete and Corten steel. As close to heaven as any minimalist dare tread.
