Studio Session: Poetic Prints

February 12, 2017
1-5pm

As the most poetic of holidays approaches join us this February 12th in an exciting exploration of poetry and printmaking. Guest poet, Indigo Moor, will lead the poetry workshop component in tandem with in-studio monoprint experimentations. Inspired by works of Karl Kasten and Nathan Oliveira (concurrently on display in the museum), this in-depth study will culminate in a collaboration of the written word and print.

About our Guest Poet: Indigo Moor was a featured poet at SVMA this fall for our popular Pairings events, and we are excited to have him back. He is a poet, playwright, and author currently residing in Sacramento, where he has just been named the county's 2017 poet laureate. His second book of poetry, Through the Stonecutter’s Window, won the Northwestern University Press’s Cave Canem prize. His first book,Tap-Root, was published as part of Main Street Rag’s Editor’s Select Poetry Series. His stageplay, Live! at the Excelsior, was a finalist for the Images Theatre Playwright Award.
