Spotlight Seminar: What's it All Mean? William T. Wiley in Retrospect

May 20, 2014
June 10, 2014
2–4pm

For over five decades, William T. Wiley’s work has challenged us with a vast banquet of images and words describing the human condition, demanding close attention and patient looking. In this two-session seminar we will explore the Wileyan topics of politics and war, foolishness and ambition, love and anger. Join art historian Ann Wiklund for a closer look at this artist’s amazing virtuosity as SVMA celebrates Wiley in the upcoming exhibition     Wall and Ardor: William T. Wiley in the 21st Century.

Seminar is limited to 12 participants and includes a personal copy of the catalog for What's It All Mean: William T. Wiley in Retrospect, the exhibition organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum in 2009. Participants should pick up their book at the Museum office in order to read the selection before the first session.
