April 15, 2013
6 pm

Roger Shimomura is best known for his body of work that explores his childhood experience during World War II, incarcerated at Camp Minidoka. But Shimomura’s career as an artist takes many other twists and turns, which art historian Ann Wiklund examines in this lecture. The exhibition Yellow Terror: The collections and Paintings of Roger Shimoura, for example, explores Asian stereotypes and An American Knockoff is a series of self-portraits combating the “enemy.”
