Volunteer: Front Desk Host
VOLUNTEER POSITION: Front Desk Host
REPORTS TO: Nicole Grimes, Museum Associate and Volunteer Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Front Desk Host is responsible for welcoming visitors to the museum and providing a pleasant, efficient entry experience. Front Desk Hosts handle admissions and merchandise transactions, track visitor attendance, answer questions, and provide general information about the Museum's exhibitions, memberships, and programs while maintaining an engaging atmosphere and secure, safe conditions in the galleries. All new volunteers receive personalized training before assuming their position. Once trained, hosts are required to work with minimal supervision.
The Front Desk Host will choose at least two shifts a month: Wednesdays/Thursdays, 11am-2pm or 2pm-5pm. Currently the Museum's biggest need is on Thursdays.
Reception Desk Host Requirements:
Complete orientation and training
Greet people with a smile and welcome them to the museum
Computer Savvy--confidently execute admission, membership, and merchandise sales on a point of sale system.
Ensure that the art is safe and secure.
Answer any questions visitors may have about the museum or exhibitions
Track visitor attendance and zip codes hourly
Assist Museum Guides when needed
Ensure museum is presentable and user friendly
Promptly alert a staff member of anything questionable
Give at least 24 hours notice if unable to fulfill designated shift
Act as Museum ambassadors in the community, promoting the Museum and helping to increase Museum visits.
